After twelve years of ministry among you—and twelve and a half years of writing this little blog—it’s time to say goodbye.
How do you sum up twelve years of dinners round the table, worship gatherings, rites, celebrations, moms’ coffee and meetings, Advent candles and Easter alleluias? How do you put into words what it means to have walked alongside people through joy and heartbreak, questions and faith, ordinary days and holy moments? By saying thank you.
Thank you for welcoming me into your lives and your stories. Thank you for letting me stand with you at hospital bedsides and at gravesides, for letting me hold your babies and bless your marriages, for trusting me with your hopes and doubts and hard conversations. Thank you for your patience when I stumbled, for your humor with all my ideas, and for the countless ways you’ve shown me the face of Christ.
I started this blog to capture my learnings, our wonderings, and the good news among us. As I prepare to step away and into what comes next, I carry with me a deep sense of peace—not because everything is perfect, but because I believe, more than ever, that the Spirit is alive and at work in you and in this community. And I know it’s time for something new to rise up for all of us. Even though I’m sad at the parting, I have such a sense of rightness about this moment for us all. God continues to move and so we move and embrace change, and live into a new day. I don’t know exactly what the future will look like but I know two things. 1.You will continue to be the Church in all the beautiful, complex, Spirit-filled ways that you are. 2. And I will continue to spend too much on worship ideas and walk alongside a community in love.
Thanks be to God!- Eilidh
