After a year of so much loss we have much to lament and as the season turns and we begin to return to worship in person we have much to celebrate. Lament is important, it is vital to our spiritual growth and health. This season of our church life we are choosing however to celebrate. We are all tired, scarred by isolation and the collective traumas wrought by disease, fires, and ice. In this moment our leadership has decided to take stock of all that is good. This is in no means a way to minimize what has happened or to drown out our space for lament. Celebration of God’s goodness, of one another’s stories & faith, and of God’s call for our congregation are means of hope. While our overarching themes are celebratory, in the spaces of worship we will pray and lament as we continue to honesty and authentically live out our faith.

By reflecting on what is good in worship this month we are reminded of all that we still have. In July & August folks will be telling stories of their faith, either bible stories they love or stories of their own experiences that formed their faith. We will be celebrating the faith of members of our community and also remembering the ways God has formed each of us. In the fall we’ll do a 6 sermon series on our why; We believe everyone needs a safe space to be loved for who they are already. We’ll celebrate God’s call and resume more vigorously the path of community engagement and radical love of our neighbors.

This is a season of return and renewal. May we soak up the sunshine, the beauty of our area, and the goodness of this moment to prepare us for God’s path ahead.
