This week we held our first in person worship in the sanctuary. It wasn’t our official grand opening, but a final test run. It was lovely to have a few folks in the room to engage while I preached, to react with to children’s time, and to hum along with to the hymns. One funny moment was that a couple of the folks spent a lot of the time on their phones, engaging with the community online on our Facebook page who were worshiping from home! Definitely a change of how we do things. In stead of being annoyed by folks on their phones while I was preaching it warmed my heart to know that we are still connected and a whole community even when separated by distance and disease.

This next week we’re fully reopening worship, moving mom’s coffee to a great garden patio space at local coffee shop Ardent Coffee, and welcoming back more user groups to the Trinity building. Snack church and dinner church are both talking about in person gatherings outdoors this summer, and I’ve already got bible study back on my calendar for Tuesday mornings this fall. We are slowly reemerging from this time of hibernation and I for one am so thankful.
