Dinner Church is in a season of change. After all the adjustments during the pandemic to online gatherings, back yard dessert church, and then finally coming back into dinner it is clear that this gathering is no longer the center of drawing new people into community. So the core group of dinner church are praying and dreaming. Over the past 11 years the Sellwood Faith Community has gathered in service projects, dinners on different nights, dinners at Laughing Planet, Meditation hikes, conversations at local bars, coffee with moms, walking groups, book groups, taize worship, and more. We know that SFC is so much more than just gathering for dinner. To help identify what makes SFC a vibrant faith community the leadership team will be sending out surveys to those who have been part of any expression of SFC. The goal is to remember the story of the community and thus be inspired to dream and imagine the next expression of God at work here and now. If you want to make sure you are on the survey please let me or Chris Holle-Bailey know!
As we have been looking at pictures and paper work from the past 11 years it is amazing to see all the people who we have been blessed to walk with for a season. So many dinners around the table, so many hours spent in service, so much creativity and joy in celebration of God. I know that while I will not be a part of the next expression of this particular community of faith, we have done what we set out to do, create an expression of church that meets people where they are, transforms lives, and is led by the people of the community. I am so excited for what is next for SFC.
Blessings,
Eilidh
