I totally wrote a blog post last week. I know because I wrote it late Tuesday after struggling all day with a migraine, but today poof it wasn’t on the website. So all that work and straining to see so I could honor my commitment to writing every week about our journey as a parish was gone!
It’s important to me that we keep telling our story. First of all it is an accountability measure to the annual conference which from 2013-2022 gave more $350,000 in grant money for the Sellwood Faith Community and then the Southeast Portland Parish. That money made Steele Street School Possible. It helped us develop a safe space for spiritual growth a round a dinner table.
Secondly it’s important to share what we have learned. We are experimenting with community and what church means. We are thinking creatively about collaboration and community and spiritual formation. Not everyone has the time to experiment like we have so we want to tell the story as a way to share possibilities.
Third it’s a great record of what is going on and how we have evolved over time.
I am so grateful for the 11 years that I have been able to dream about what faith community can look like and I will keep posting as we transition into the next phase of the Southeast Portland Parish over this next year.
-Blessings,
Eilidh
