Today at zoom with the pastor, a gathering online every Tuesday morning to visit and connect, Miss Barbara shared that she had no water and needed someone to check the space where the pipes were. I texted two folks who live near her and before long there was a knock and her door and a whole passel of kids and people arrived to help. This is the beauty of the church. That when we need each other folks show up. I don’t know if Barbara’s problems were solved in that moment, but what I do know is she was delighted to see the baby, visit with church folks, and know that people cared for her. This was such a moment of delight in a busy, cold day. And this is the power of church community. Check on your neighbors and ask for help as you need it as we head in to day 6 of freezing, dangerous weather.
