One of my favorite tv shows (Brooklyn 911) and one of my favorite scripture passages (The Magnificat Luke 1:46-55) come together in this meme.  I wonder what Mary would think as we celebrate advent and reflect on her words.  Yes she did know who Jesus was and what his birth meant if we follow the words of her song of praise and joy.  It is a song full of challenge too.  Casting down the mighty is no easy task!  Advent is about getting ready for the work of seeing Christ in the world.  We are getting ready for Jesus, our coconspirator and guide. He calls us to justice, to compassion, to integrity, to service.  So this time, while holly and jolly is a time to seek hope, strive for peace, be filled with joy, and to engage in deep, radical love.

To help us do that we’ll be using a devotional centered in Mary’s song.  You can find a digital cope here. Printed copies are available in our gathering spaces.

May this advent be a time of preparation and pause as we get ready to begin again in a new year with the holy work before us.
