How do you store your clothes?  Do you have a designated drawer for different categories of clothes such as a specific drawer for socks and another for t-shirts or do you jut put the clean clothes in the drawer with space each time you do laundry?  Whichever way you do it you have a system for your clothes.  Maybe you have a system like my old one which was to pile the clean clothes on the guest bed for a week or so before putting it into drawers!  Our lives are full of processes and systems we have created.  Some of them are more successful for us than others.  The clothes on the bed was great until the cat had a hair ball on them!

As we conclude our stewardship campaign this week we are focusing on the systems and processes each one of us is planning to put in place over the next year to live out our faith.  The  United Methodist Church asks us to give of our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.  Each year we ask the folks of the parish how they want to pray, show up, give, serve, and tell the story of God in the coming year.  We can say all sorts of things in answer to these commitments, but if we don’t have a way to do them then we won’t do them.  Our family gives $300 each month to the church which is about 10% of my income after taxes. And I have an automatic payment sent each month from our bank because I am useless at remembering to bring my checkbook to church!  I have a system that helps me be faithful ot my promise of sharing my gifts.

How do you hope to show up this year in your pledges and commitments and what do you need to put in place to make that happen?
