This past Sunday we met to revise our 5 year plan. About 20 folks attended and it was a wonderful, hope-filled, exciting conversation. To focus on the gift we have of amazing people we agreed to continue our focus on learning and creating space for leadership. Every year we’ll have 3 season of study. Advent, Lent, & Summer. We have been used to a rhythm of study at the parish and that will continue. We’ll be focusing on big topics and hard conversations as well as spiritual formation. Our leadership piece involves meeting quarterly to check our progress on our 5 year plan and share the work God is calling us to as a community. This is something we have been doing regularly since before the pandemic and we will continue coming together to discern and support one another.
We also decided it is really important to invest in our land and our buildings. We will be exploring the possibility of a ground lease to build housing on a portion of the Trinity grounds. It was clear in the conversation that maintaining parking for church and building use was a high priority in this conversation. We also recognized that our building are lovely gifts that we can steward better. We talked about creating a more welcoming fellowship area in the back of the sanctuary. We thought about the lack of accessible meeting space in our city and recognized we can work to address that. We decided to remove the exploration of building an ADU at the SFC house and instead focus our efforts on making the garage stable and updating needed items in the house.
Concerns were raised, ideas were shared, hope was expressed. It really was a beautiful, faith filled discussion and it is wonderful to have a clear direction.
Why we exist- We believe everyone needs a safe space to be loved for who they are already.
What we are about- God is calling us to relationship & connection, and to be a safe place & people prioritizing belonging and hospitality in our neighborhood and beyond.
