Today I returned to work after a month of renewal leave. I am happy, energized, and grounded. It was lovely to have a whole month to rest. I enjoyed the freedom of doing what I felt like doing in the moment. Some days that means mostly resting, reading, and watching tv.  Some days it means organizing my closet or going on a hike. I had very few plans for the month and it was such a gift to just be. I didn’t have to worry about the time or what people needed from me.

As I return to work I am ready to be back in a more consistent rhythm. I missed our community and sharing life with you all. I am excited about sharing a draft strategic plan with you at the end of the month and journeying through the old testament together as we continue Bible in a Year.

During leave I was able to attend the noon mass at Mount Angel Abbey and Compline at St. Mark’s in Seattle. St. Marks has a weekly podcast of compline and I will be listening to that each week as a way to renew more consistently! I will also be attending a retreat at Mount Angel this year.  It’s important to plan spiritual care of self into our lives and I am so grateful for this month that has allowed me to reset and find these opportunities for regular renewal!
