Over the past few years the grounds at the Trinity building had gotten a bit scruffy. We stopped having monthly weeding parties and with ;less traffic at the building it was easy to let some things slide. As the trustees thoughtfully considered care for all of our property we decided to hold a work day to get ready for fall and a return to more of our regular programing.

So many people joined in to weed, clean, trim, polish, compost, rake, and more. Nora stepped into a drain she was mucking out, but luckily Lisa was able to get dry shoes from home fairly quickly! I got nauseous dealing with some of the grime and grossness of the kitchen. Dan braved the roof, Kate transformed an entire bed. Our friends form Eastside village reshaped the front bushes. The gents from the honor corps that practices in the basement monthly replaces lights and buffed the basement floors. Several of our AA folks spread bark chips for the playground. The preschool people had already done the sand box on Friday. After just a few hours the Trinity grounds and building  were looking spiffy. Thanks to David for coordinating it all and running around giving jobs and making sure things got completed in order of priority!

We plan to do this every year. It’s a great way to get to know some of our building users and to complete some of the big projects of managing our property. And it’s really fun to work together.  I so enjoyed cooking pancakes with Mary and getting to see Jeff connecting with Nithin.

Thank you to everyone who came out and to all those who chip in all year round to care for our properties, including the Sellwood House!
