This year feels like it has been a roller coaster. I was so hopeful back when 2021 started. Then we had the insurrection on January 6th. I was so grateful when I got vaccinated. Then began the anti-vac movement.  I was so excited that we were going to begin in-person worship again right after Easter.  Then we had a Spring wave of infections.  I was so inspired to travel again when we headed to New York. Then Delta took hold.  I was so glad children were able to return to full time school. Then we started seeing massive teacher burnout I was so ready to begin singing again with Christmas Eve.  Then Omicron appeared.

I am weary and not sure I’m ready for 2022. I’m guessing many of you feel the same way, so this year we will be joining in a traditional Wesleyan Covenant Renewal service on the First Sunday in January. It’s a way to begin our year dedicating ourselves to God and thinking about the promises God makes to us. We know God is a God of covenant from the time of Abraham to Moses an on and on. We promise to center God, to love other, and to live wisely and God promises to guide us and be with us.

I think that this reminder is just what I need to face this next roller coaster of a year with all it’s unexpected twists and turns, highs and lows.

I hope it helps us all.
