This year has been so incredibly stressful for me when it comes to leading worship. I have a basic comfort of technology, based in 1990’s school library computers and a love of Facebook. As we have evolved during the pandemic my tech skills have not been able to keep up with my vision of what worship could be. Luckily we have an amazing member of our church, Elaina McKnight, who is a professional techie. She came to the rescue after a particularly disastrous worship experience and has been volunteering countless hours to get our wifi sorted out and all of our gear in order. Not only has she increased our wifi speed and signal strength, she got us a better price with Comcast!
As it became clear that Jill was needing to reduce her hours (and now since she has resigned) we had additional budget capacity in our staffing and were able to offer Elaina a job. As she is doing so much when it comes to technology we have made her title Queen of Tech. Each Sunday Elaina sets up all of our equipment, troubleshoots any issues, coordinates the zoom meeting for the worship leadership, launches the slides, and runs the sound system. She is also working to reset our sound system given the unique demands of having both folks watching online and people gathering in the sanctuary with hybrid worship. Another gift is that she is working with Comcast to iron out some continuing issues. Having her on board will allow us to continue to evolve worship and meet the changing needs of our parish in these difficult times.
Please welcome Elaina aboard and pray for her as she deals with your not so techie pastor!
