This has been an uncertain and difficult time. The people of the Parish have not faltered in this time. The last 6 months our community has increased giving, shown up for each other, and made the best of this unprecedented interruption to our rhythm of life. The Trinity finance team met this week, and although we are running a deficit each month due to the lack of income from building users to help cover the insurance, utilities, and janitorial service, we have enough in our operating account to keep running this deficit for 24 months. That doesn’t even take in to account our investment monies. We are in this position due to the diligence and faithful giving of generations of folks who shared their resources that our community might help shine God’s light here and now.
The Sellwood Fatih Community began the year with a little over $3,000 in our account. We now have over $24,000 in our account, which is just what we need as our 5 year grant continues to decrease as we move towards our end date of June 30, 2022. Again the faithful giving of many have allowed the annual conference to support us with this grant and the giving of the members of this community have meant that we can continue to vision and plan ministry for years to come.
Money isn’t everything, but is a needed component in our ability to hire staff, care for our buildings, and provide engaging and relevant ministry. I am so amazed at the depth of faith expressed in the sharing of resources, especially when things are so exhausting and chaotic in these days.
