This week Jayde and I are headed to the coast for a full day of planning.  After a year of working together, we will be reexamining the responsibilities that each of us oversees, making sure that we are engaging with the tasks we each find fulfilling and stretching as we grow in ministry. We will also be thinking about the next year of the life of the South East Portland Parish and planning for the new ministries emerging in our community.

It’s hard to know where you are going without a map.  Our clergy covenant is shared with our two deacons on staff, Jeff & Laura.  Together we commit to healthy and holy ways of working together and list out each person’s responsibilities.  This helps us to be clear about who is doing what and make sure we can both support each other and understand where the boundaries of our work lie.

The plans we have for the Parish help us shape the work God is calling us to.  This past year visibility was part of our plan, so we have a new sign at SFC and shirts to wear when we are about the business of the Parish in the world.  As we pray and plan for this next year  I’m sure we will once again be surprised by the Holy Spirit in our midst, leading us ever closer to God’s dream for us.
