A new year is a traditional time to make resolutions and plan for the year ahead. Here are my hopes and some of the plans our clergy and lay leadership are working on for the Parish in the year ahead. 2019 Goals for the Southeast Portland Parish
- Focus on children in our community and around the world
- Affordable Childcare (Community Conversations: January 30th, February 4th and February 21st)
- Partnerships with Grout and Woodstock (Backpack Buddies, Holiday gift cards, teacher thank yous, volunteer tutors)
- Creation Care Vacation Bible School
- UNICEF Support (Pumpkins with Justice)
- UMCOR kits
- Advocacy for children in the world
- Focus on Spiritual Formation
- Sunday School (9am each week at Trinity
- Bible Study (Tuesdays at 9:30 at Trinity)
- Second SFC Gathering (Starting in March at Jayde’s house)
- Lent Series
- Catechumenate (Beginning in September under Laura’s leadership)
- Advent Series
- Increasing visibility in our community
- New website
- Sign on the SFC House
- Prayer box at SFC house
- Strengthening our connection to the larger church
- Letter writing ahead of General Conference
- Participation in We Make the Road by Walking series
- Leadership Team participation in the Northwest Leadership Institute in Boise in March (6 folks are signed up to go!)
- Improving our facilities
- Cleaning and organizing of the buildings (We have two teenagers volunteering at the Trinity building this week helping clean out the dark recesses of the basement and repairing some of the recent vandalism)
- Increased liturgical art and decoration of worship spaces
