Part of the deal in forming the Parish was that we would still have regular brunches for the Sellwood Faith Community folks.  Last month the day for brunch fell on the same day as church council at Trinity.  Church council only meets quarterly, and we were discussing some new ministry ventures, so it felt important to have a pastoral presence there to hear the wisdom of the church.   Brunch ends at 12, Church Council begins at 11:45.  I cannot be in two places at once nor can I teleport. What it meant on this day was that I walked away from a full house.  There were nearly 20 people laughing, sharing, and helping clean as I headed out the door.  One couple was folding up the extra tables.  A group of folks were carrying dishes in to the kitchen to a crew on washing duty.  A cluster of ladies chatted by the front door as the kiddos got all the napkins down the laundry chute.

It was wonderful to walk away from my house knowing that this group of people did not need me to be there.  They have claimed this way of life as their own.  We call our house the Sellwood Faith Community House because it is meant to be a place where people can make themselves at home. And they do.
