This week we got to film a video about our community for United Methodist Communications. Check out this amazing one about a church in Massachusetts that does an epic Harry Potter Halloween event each year for an idea of what we will end up with. We think that United Methodist Communications will distribute the SFC video early in the new year.
We were so excited to tell our story and to share what we are doing at SFC with our global connection of United Methodists. On Saturday a production crew came to the house and interviewed Jeff & me for about 90 minutes. Then they came back the next day to film all of dinner and do brief pull out interviews with some of our folks. I also sent them every single photo I have taken at SFC events in the past 2 years. I was really struck by the breath of what we have done and the many people who have participated in the work of this community.
It was funny, but I wasn’t worried about the interview because I realized early on in this process that neither Jeff nor I was the star of this show. The center of it all is the community, the thing that is growing here in this place. I get to be one of the pieces of this grand experiment and part of my role is to interpret what we are finding to a wider audience. I get to share something that is bigger than any one of us and to say thank you to the many, many people who have helped to make SFC a possibility and then a reality. Once again I realize how lucky I am to be able to be here in this place for such a time as this.
