A creative collaboration between Trinity United Methodist Church and Sellwood Faith Community

Our community exists to embody the love of God in the world because we believe everyone needs a safe space to be loved for who they are already.

We Believe

…that God made us for community. As people of faith, we gather in worship, engage one another in relevant study and discussion, care for one another around a shared meal, and foster spiritual growth in an atmosphere of love and acceptance as we learn more about who God is and who we are.

Sunday Morning Worship

We gather for worship on Sunday mornings in a formal time of worship, music, prayer, and reflection on scripture, tradition, and our experiences. During this time, we sing hymns, both traditional and contemporary, hear a good word from the morning’s preacher, respond as a community through prayer and giving, and celebrate communion monthly. Sunday mornings, 10:30am. Inperson and online.  Masks are required inperson.  Join us at the Trinity building at 3915 SE Steele or link to our Virtual Gathering via Facebook Live here

Sunday Dinner Church

We are intentional in contemplating what we believe and passionate about living it out.  Dinner Church is the weekly gathering where we do this most concretely. We join for a potluck meal or you can bring your own food or choose to join us and refrain from eating. We share in conversation and experiential expressions of faith. We talk about our personal experience of the theme or respond to a scripture passage that connects with it or watch a video, create art, and engage in collaborative activities. We reflect on our hope for the future and how our learning will shape us.  Each week we close with time to share the ways we can be present to each other in the coming week.  Sunday evenings, 5:30pm. Sellwood Faith House 1535 SE Tacoma St

Spiritual Formation & Care

The Spiritual Formation & Care Team is dedicated to caring for our members, the neighborhood, and our wider world and supporting our community as we continue to learn and grow.  This work happens by creating fellowship opportunities, connecting with those who can no longer physically attend, coordinating acts of mercy including the Backpack Buddies program, and developing opportunities for education including weekly bible study, Not Your Normal Book Club, and seasonal studies.

Peace with Justice

The Peace with Justice Committee strives to help the congregation to create deeper spiritual understandings of justice while engaging in practical applications of Christ’s peace in the world. This work happens through a variety of education events and hands on activities such as the Prince of Peace breakfast in Advent, the UNICEF Pumpkins with Justice voter education event, and the Lenten Study.
