I took 7 minutes and this is the list I came up with of women who have shaped my faith. Who have taught me something about God. It is not a comprehensive list, but it is so many names to come up with in such a short amount of time.
Our faith uses male language. We hear the story of the men mostly. Most preachers are men. Most theologians. Most leaders. And yet when you ask someone who taught them to love Jesus they often start as I did with their mom. Or maybe grandma. Women were the first witnesses to the resurrection. They funded Jesus’ ministry. They cared for the disciples. Women are at the heart of our faith and this week we take time to celebrate them and their stories.
Who is a woman who has taught you about God?
